The University of East London offers a course designed to help you prepare for the Metropolitan Police Interpreters test. Passing this test means you can apply to become part of the National Register of Public Service Interpreters.
Many languages currently offered by the Met Interpreter Test are not catered for by other tests. Languages include; Albanian, Turkish, Kurdish (Sorani) and Polish, but other more rare languages can also be accommodated, such as Amharic, Mongolianand Shona.
UEL currently has two intakes a year, February to May and September to November, each containing 20 hours dedicated teaching time within Duncan House, home to the School of Law & Social Sciences. Teaching will include:
1. Role play and group work
2. Lecturer guidance on essential reading materials
3. Mock exams and access to past paper exercises from the Met Interpreters test itself
4. Directed self study.
The course will cost £200 and run for ten weeks, four hours every fortnight**
Lessons start on Wednesday 26th September 2012. The exam takes place in the week beginning 26th November 2012.
