General English Course

Contents negocia students

We run general English courses from August - September which are designed for any student who wants to improve their use of English in everyday situations.  The course focuses on key language (grammar, vocabulary and pronunciation) and skills (listening, speaking, reading and writing) development. The course is suitable for anyone who wants to improve their overall language level and for those who need to reach the minimum entry level for the pre-sessional courses.

What are the aims of the course?

The course aims to do the following:

What will I study?

The course will help you develop your grammar and vocabulary by providing you with training and practice in general English skills. The main focus is on improving your communciation skills in everyday situations and so an integrated skills approach is taken. We will cover all skill areas as well as providing input on grammar, vocabulary development and pronunciation.  We will also schedule an individual tutorial per week so that you can talk to your personal tutor about your progress and receive guidance in your self-study.

Your tutors will make use of course books but they will also supplement lessons with authentic materials.

Do I get a report?

Yes - all students receive a final report at the end of the course and a certificate of attendance, provided they have attended a minimum of 80% of their classes.

Who attends this course ?

Students who attend this course include those who are going on to take the 3 month pre-sessional course and further study at UEL. It  also includes students who wish to improve their overall general language level and study in a university environment.
