Paid Placements

Paid placements are an excellent opportunity for you to develop your employability skills, gain experience in your chosen field and most importantly, stand out from the crowd when you embark upon your career.

In such a competitive graduate recruitment market, building your CV, gaining work experience and developing your contacts and networks is vital to get on that first rung of the career ladder.

Placements are usually between four and twelve weeks in length, and can be undertaken part time or full time.

You will be paid approximately £200 per full time week. To apply for projects you must be in at least the second year of your degree programme or a new graduate.

Expectations are that placement students/graduates will already have the necessary academic skills/experience/education required to complete the project to a high standard

Important, please read

Placements have a competitive application process with high response rates. Your application should show:

  • Relevant skills, abilities and education tailored to the placement
  • That you can succeed, have innovative thinking and ambition
  • Include information that highlights your ‘enterprising attitude’ (e.g. setting up a stall during a charity event or launching a student magazine)
  • Your employability skills such as flexibility, team work, communication skills, organisational skills, problem solving, time management, pro-activity, culture and disability awareness
  • Talk about voluntary work and paid work experience
  • Up to date information
  • Each application should be adapted for each specific placement (avoid sending the same application/CV for every placement that you apply for)
