Cass School of Education

Why do your Teacher Training with UEL?

Education in action

The Cass School of Education is one of London's leading centres for teacher training, offering highly successful programmes for Primary, Secondary and Post-Compulsory levels.

We are the only School of Education in the country to meet the Equality and Diversity and Disability benchmark (source: The Guardian). We have a reputation for excellence in preparing teachers to educate young people in the multi-ethnic and multilingual culture of urban schools, and are one of the UK ’s leading providers of initial teacher training for students from minority ethnic backgrounds. We are also one of the leading universities for recruiting men to train to teach at both primary and secondary levels.

If you are currently a university student and would like to get some school experience to help you decide if teaching is the career for you, why not take a look a the Student Associates Scheme?

What did Ofsted say?

Following the most recent Ofsted inspection of our Secondary PGCE provision in February 2008, we were awarded Grade 1 (outstanding) for Training and Grade 1 (outstanding) for Management and Quality Assurance. Only two other London universities have received a Grade 1 for management and quality assurance. This makes us a Category A provider at secondary level; one of only a few nationally . We offer a full time Secondary PGCE in a range of subjects. We also offer the work based Graduate Teacher Programme (GTP) and the Overseas Trained Teacher (OTT) programme. For more details visit our Secondary pages.

During 2007, UEL’s Primary and Post Compulsory provision passed their Ofsted inspections with flying colours, with management and quality assurance rated as of good quality. Our Continuing Professional Development for teachers is also rated as good quality.

What are you waiting for?

With excellent financial benefits such as training bursaries (subject to DCSF conditions), and the support offered through UEL’s extensive links with schools and colleges, now is a great time to come to UEL and train to become a teacher.

Fancy a taster?
