Education in Action

The Cass School of Education is involved in education, community and continuing education, and the School’s programmes have been recognised nationally and internationally as being innovative, supportive and responsive to very diverse educational needs. Many of our students are mature returners, and/or from a very wide range of ethnic communities.

In building on this recognition, the School promotes a strong research culture amongst its academic staff and its post-graduate and research students. The School engages in research and scholarship of local, national and international significance, particularly in the areas of Early Childhood Education and Community, Linguistics and Applied Linguistics. The intellectual agenda of the School is to provide a positive contribution to local and diasporic communities in the London and South East Region of England; and in areas of especial expertise, nationally and internationally. Between them, staff have undertaken research and been involved in education policy making in many countries in Australasia, South East Asia, Central Asia, Southern and West Africa and the Caribbean as well as in Europe and North America. The School has a number of active research groups.
