About distance learning

Studying by distance learning enables you to fit your studies around your work or other commitments without having to attend face-to-face tutorials or lectures. Our structured study programmes allow you to take control of how, where and when you learn.

Who chooses to study by distance learning?

Anyone can become a distance learning student. Our community of distance learning students include those who:

  • prefer to study in the home or work place
  • wish to study while travelling or living overseas
  • are unable to access the UEL campuses
  • like the idea of doing study as they travel
  • are planning a career change while remaining in paid work
  • want to improve your skills while raising a family
  • are keen to explore a new area of interest by studying just a few modules.

Benefits of being a distance learning student

By successfully completing a distance learning degree programme, you not only display relevant knowledge, skills and understanding to an employer but also demonstrate that you are able to manage your time effectively, that you are self-motivated and already have a good work ethic – all of which will give you the edge you need to find success in the real world.
