Case study:

What are you doing now?

Progressed to post-graduate study
Institution: UCL
Course: Countering organised crime and terrorism

Did the internship influence your decision to undertake this course?

The internship allowed me to gain additional valuable research knowledge and the opportunity to continue to work with Lara Frumkin which enabled expansion of my undergraduate dissertation and joint collaboration on the research which we are currently finalising in order to publish.  Looking for employment in the field although I am currently employed for maternity cover at a firm of Solicitors.

What was most exciting /enjoyable about the internship experience?

Being able to work with Lara Frumkin and extend the accent research to look at additional areas that could not be covered under the dissertation.

What challenges, if any, did you face during the internship and how did you overcome them?

Timescale and gaining participants was a challenge and we overcame this by making the study available online.

What key skills or knowledge did you gain from the internship?

Time management, online research development skills, presentation skills and further research analysis skills.

What would you say to undergraduates who are thinking about applying for an internship?

I found it very rewarding and it had a positive impact upon the Universities where I applied at for my Masters.
