Case study:

What was most exciting /enjoyable about the internship experience?

The most exciting and enjoyable about the internship was gaining experience and being paid some awesome amount of money for the work done. Also presenting my Poster Presentation

What challenges, if any, did you face during the internship and how did you overcome them?

Having to travel far and late to interview participants, I over came this challenge communicating effecting with the participants to come to some sort of agreed time scale to meet and in a central place.

What key skills or knowledge did you gain from the internship?

Key skills gained from internship are :

  • Excellent Communication skills both written and oral
  • Strong Presentation skills
  • Ability to Manage own time & prioritise workload
  • Analytical and Conceptual thinking
  • Confident User of Microsoft Office including Excel, Word and PowerPoint
  • Good interpersonal skills

What would you say to undergraduates who are thinking about applying for an internship?

The advise is that undergraduates should continue to apply and work as interns as it will them when they have complete their studies at the University. This will be the first expriecne gained and employers want to know apart from gaining theorectical experience academically, what practical experience have they got. Internship then makes one shine in the face of employers  and improve their Curriculum Vitae, although I have not got a suitable job yet. I am always lucky to be short listed for interviews, offered jobs ( often with less pay and far commute) they usually refer to my internship time and again . I believe that one lucy day with the knowledge and skills gained through academic , internship and interview expriences  I will get that job.

Any other information or comments

Get ready for the outside world, I mean outside studies, it is very difficult. One has got to continue looking out for jobs that can sustain your demand and not simply get the job and yet the pay will not sort out all debts accrued. Also it 's advisable for one to look out for voluntary work relevant to what one studied as skill gained will then lift you to another step rather than do what will not develop your career.
