Why Study Mathematics as part of a Combined Honours Degree?

Mathematics is a subject based on strict logic, analytical models and abstractions. It has immense applicability in many areas including science, technology, engineering, surveying, mechanics, business and commerce. Studying Mathematics is challenging, exciting, enjoyable and can lead to a rewarding career.  At UEL, you can combine mathematics with your studies in computing, information technology, business, accounting, finance or education. The programme is practically oriented, providing you with opportunities to explore mathematics methods and techniques in different areas.

What will I learn?

Knowledge

  • Gain knowledge and understanding of results from areas of calculus, algebra, statistics, data analysis, data mining, optimisation, mathematics applications
  • Understanding of mathematical models and their application

Subject-based Practical Skills

  • Become proficient in the practical use of Mathematics

Can I study a Combined Honours Programme as a Part-time degree?

All our Combined Honours Programmes can be studied on a Part-time or Full-time basis. As a Part-time student, you will study the same degree programme, but at a slower pace. You will study up to 4 modules per year (instead of 6 as a full-time student).

Employers greatly value the intellectual ability and rigour, and the skills in reasoning and analytical problem solving, of mathematics graduates, and there is a wide range of career opportunities in industry, business and commerce. There is also a great demand in the UK for mathematics teachers.

Entry Requirements

280 UCAS tariff points (including A2 Maths or a mathematically related subject) plus GCSE English and Maths grade C or above.

How do I apply?

If you wish to study with us full-time from September, you will need to make your application via UCAS (www.ucas.ac.uk). If you wish to study with us part-time you can obtain an application form from our admissions department study@uel.ac.uk or apply on-line.
