Programme Specification for Information Technology (Major, Joint or Minor)

Campus: Docklands

Why study Information Technology as part of a Combined Honours degree?

The programme at UEL concentrates on Analysis and Design, Database techniques, Usability theory, Networking concepts and Web Design techniques. Emphasis is placed on the balance between practice and theory which leads to a solid foundation for a career in the field of computing.

What modules will I take?

You can view a full guide to the modules you have to study as part of your chosen pathway, along with a full range of option modules available by viewing the Single & Combined Honours Programmes Guide for Information Technology.

Can I study a Combined Honours Programme as a Part-time degree?

All our Combined Honours Programmes can be studied on a Part-time or Full-time basis. As a Part-time student, you will study the same degree programme, but at a slower pace. You will study up to 4 modules per year (instead of 6 as a full-time student).

What career opportunities are open to me if I study Information Technology?

There is still a significant shortage of up-to-date computing skills in the UK. Organisations need to have access to these skills to make best use of their computing and internet resources. Graduates of the Information Technology degree programme combine business knowledge with technical skills and are qualified for a range of jobs including business analyst, web designer and IT strategist. For graduates who wish to continue their studies at postgraduate level, the programme provides a suitable entry route to a variety of Masters programmes, both at UEL and elsewhere.

What can I combine with Information Technology?

  • Information Technology with Multimedia Design Technology (UCAS code: G5GL)
