Why Study History as part of a Combined Honours Degree?
Studying history is vital and exciting. Understanding the past is crucial to our understanding of the present. In addition, history provides a broad-based education of the type employers tend to favour. In studying it, you will gain access to a range of crucial skills. Your strengths in critical thinking and reading, analysis and assessment of argument, and writing and presentation will all be developed fully.
What will I study?
Our programme is wide-ranging and innovative. Over the three years of the full-time degree we take a broad view of the development of Britain from its emergence as a world power in the 18 th century to post-war decolonisation. We study changes in British society in depth while at the same time locating them in a global context. Questions of class, gender, nation, and race inform our investigations, and we show how past lives and events have shaped the present.

Can I study a Combined Honours Programme as a Part-time degree?
All our Combined Honours Programmes can be studied on a Part-time or Full-time basis. As a Part-time student, you will study the same degree programme, but at a slower pace. You will study up to 4 modules per year (instead of 6 as a full-time student).
What career opportunities are open to me if I study History?
The skills taught on the History programme are sought by a wide range of employers, and our graduates have proceeded to careers in publishing, tourism, the heritage industry, teaching, local government and the media. In addition, each year several proceed to postgraduate work on masters programmes.

Entry Requirements
240 UCAS tariff points (including two passes at A2 level) plus GCSE English grade C.
How do I apply?
If you wish to study with us full-time from September, you will need to make your application via UCAS (www.ucas.ac.uk).
