Why Study Animation as part of a Combined Honours Degree?

The programme is for those students who would like to use animation as an expressive medium and explore the current art practice in the domain of video, film, photography, computer and web based installations.  Contemporary animation underpins the language of CGI and the new cinematic techniques of time based expression.

What will I study?

Animation at UEL builds upon the strong history of film video and animation at University of East London, retaining the ethos of its origins in fine art and experimental cinema as well as acknowledging the potential of Future Cinema. Students are able to draw upon a substantial knowledge of practice, technical support and theoretical underpinning within the field and School.

The programme also recognises the increasing interrelationship between the technologies of film, video, animation, and computers. Students are encouraged to investigate both the traditional and new technologies with an aim to better understand the relationships of these different approaches and possibilities.

Our goal is that all our students be able to produce, conceptually and practically, their own independent work and to fulfil production responsibilities relevant to their practice.
