Combined Honours Programmes Offer YOU Choice Flexibility Individuality Knowledge and Career Prospects

As well as having a full list of Single Honours degree programmes, UEL offers a wide range of Two Subject Degree Programmes, allowing you to study more than one subject for your degree. Here at UEL, we feel that the Combined Honours degree not only allows you flexibility in your university life but also in your choice of career at the end of the programme. You decide on the combination and the proportion of time spent on each subject (timetable permitting).

All our Combined Honours degrees can be studied on a part-time basis. Some subject areas even offer modules in the evening adding to the flexibility when you are planning your programme of study.

Even once you have chosen to study a Two Subject Degree, there are even more choices for you to consider. You can study a Major/Minor or Joint Honours.

Major/MinorCombinations

Here you choose one subject that you would like to study for two thirds of your time, and another subject for one third. Your award would be, for example, BA (Hons) History with English Literature. A Major/Minor degree is a popular choice for students who want to continue studying a subject they know, but also want to try something new.

Joint Combinations

For a Joint combination, you will study two subjects equally, which would give you an award of, for example, BA (Hons) History and English Literature.

As well as allowing you to choose to combine the subject areas that you are interested in, there is also the option of taking University Wide Options. For the majority of programmes, you can undertake another unit (dependent on timetable) completely unrelated to your degree but which allows you to broaden your knowledge or experience in an area of interest to you.

You will find that some subject combinations will be based entirely on one University campus. However others may well spread across two of the University campuses. Generally where you are based across different campuses we will endeavour to structure your degree so that you will not need to travel between campuses within one day - but this will depend on the modules you choose.
