Guide to Clearing Applications

It is quick and easy to apply for programmes at UEL. The way you apply differs depending on the level of programme you are applying for and whether you want to study full or part-time.

Clearing/Full-time undergraduate programmes

You can apply for the majority of our full-time undergraduate through the UCAS Clearing service. To make things easy we’ve provided a quick and easy guide to applying through Clearing.

It is important to note that you can only apply to UEL through Clearing if you are not currently holding an offer at another institution through UCAS or if you didn’t apply through the main UCAS cycle this year.

  1. Check our programme vacancies pages to see if we have places available on a suitable programme for you.
  2. Call the subject hotline for your programme (this is listed at the top of the programme vacancies page for your programme of interest) to apply over the phone or drop into one of our Application and Advice Centres to apply in person. Alternatively fill in this online form and member of our admissions staff should then contact you within 2 working days.
  3. If you are offered a place we will tell you this on the phone or in person. This will be followed by an email and letter asking you to accept our offer.
  4. You can accept our offer in two ways:
    1. I am already registered with UCAS
      1. Log onto your UCAS Track account at www.ucas.com
      2. Go to the Choices screen
      3. Click on Add Clearing Choice
      4. Enter UEL details as contained on your Clearing offer
      5. UEL will then receive your UCAS application electronically and confirm your place to UCAS

    2. I am not registered with UCAS
    3. Don’t worry! All full time undergraduate students must register their place with UCAS but we can do that for you at no charge.

      Simply complete the UEL UCAS Registration Form (included in your offer pack) Return the completed form to:

      Admissions Office
      University of East London
      Docklands Campus
      University Way
      London E16 2RD

      Or use the pre-paid envelope provided

      Once you have accepted our offer we will send you further information about starting at UEL and UCAS will also write to you to formally confirm your place at UEL.

Advice before applying

If you would like some advice before submitting an application you can drop in anytime during our opening hours to talk face to face with our Information, Advice and Guidance (IAG) team who are available to give you personalised guidance on your options including access courses and similar programmes offered by UEL such as New Beginnings 2 . They will also be able to assist you in completing your application UCAS Clearing.

Part-time undergraduate programmes

Apply Online

You can apply for all of our part-time undergraduate programmes online, over the phone or in person. To make things easy we’ve provided a quick and easy guide to applying.

  1. Check our undergraduate programmes pages.
  2. You can apply by any of the following methods:
    • Online by clicking on the programme title from our programme vacancies pages and then clicking on the Apply link.
    • Over the phone by calling the subject hotline for your programme (this is listed at the top of the programme vacancies page for your programme of interest).
    • In person by dropping into one of our Application and Advice Centres.
  3. If you are offered a place will tell you this either on the phone, by email/letter or in person. This will be followed by an email and letter outlining the offer we are making to you and asking you to accept it.
  4. You can accept our offer in two ways:
    • By emailing us and quoting your application reference number
    • By posting or returning in the person the reply slip at the bottom of your offer letter.
  5. Once you have accepted our offer we will send you further information about starting at UEL.

If you would like some advice before submitting an application you can drop in anytime during our opening hours to talk face to face with our Information, Advice and Guidance (IAG) team who are available to give you personalised guidance on your options including access courses and similar programmes offered by UEL such as New Beginnings 2. Postgraduate or Part time programmes

Apply Online

You can apply for all of our postgraduate programmes online or in person. To make things easy we’ve provided a quick and easy guide to applying.

  1. Check our postgraduate programmes pages to see if we have places available on a suitable programme for you.
  2. You can apply by any of the following methods:
    • Online by clicking on the programme title from our programme vacancies pages, which will load up the programme specification then click on the Apply link.
    • In person by dropping into one of our Application and Advice Centres.
  3. If you are offered a place will tell you this either on the phone, by email/letter or in person. This will be followed by an email and letter outlining the offer we are making to you and asking you to accept it.
  4. You can accept our offer in two ways:
    • By emailing us and quoting your application reference number

GTTR/Teacher training (PGCE) programmes

In order to apply for a place on our PGCE Primary and Secondary programmes or for advice on our entry requirements, please call 020 8223 2782.  You must have your GTTR application number to hand when you make the call. You will find your GTTR number on all your correspondence from GTTR.
