Kingston University is a partner in a new project called Make it Global which aims to help women-led small and medium-size enterprises to become more international , whether this be through sourcing overseas suppliers or marketing/trading abroad.
We are running a series of workshops to help women-led businesses. Our team of experts will provide insight into the challenges of business development. You will have a chance to meet other entrepreneurs facing similar challenges, and build a supportive network for yourself.

In this interactive session you will be taught how to nurture and develop leads so they turn into customers.

The aim of the session is for attendees to develop marketing messages that are from the customer’s point of view instead of their own by developing a Unique Perceived Benefit (UPB). Attendees will learn from the guest speaker how to use these messages to build an international marketing and sales plan. The session will build on some of the lessons learnt from ‘ The art of being brilliant session'.

This event will be themed around business superstitions and debugging the myths that could potentially hold you back.
Superstitions are defined as ‘widely held beliefs with no rational basis’ yet most people seem to hold superstitions which can dictate and guide their behaviour. But what if a superstition held you or your customers back from business development – a sale, a PR opportunity or a new venture? As an example, the fear of the number 13 is so common that there’s actually a word for it: Triskaidekaphobia. Many businesses are affected by peoples’ fear of this number and have had to change their practices to accommodate it. Buildings often avoid a 13th floor and airlines report that every time a ‘Friday 13’ appears in the calendar, flight bookings are down. As we come into the year 2013 what superstitions are you faced with and how do you plan to overcome them?
