L-Systems are a formal symbolic notation for describing recursively defined designs. Based on the botanist Aristide Lindenmayers’s work on brachiating plants, it provides a neat way of defining branching structures. Algorithm developed in Lisp as a evolutionary system using genetic programming. There are a number of papers in the research area describing Genetic Programming and L-systems work.
