We purchase all our food from reputable suppliers who are carefully vetted and monitored by a specialist group to ensure consistent high standards, compliance with food safety regulations and competitive prices which enable us to keep our costs low.
We use only high quality GM free ingredients in our menus. We also ensure that we address environmental issues, for example all our tuna is dolphin friendly and we also offer some coffee’s & snacks which are FAIR TRADE approved products.
Throughout our outlets we provide a full range of healthy eating options. Sandwiches are made with fresh granary bread, with other breads available. Jacket potatoes as well as salads are available during lunch periods.
Wherever possible we provide options which comply with religious requirements. UEL has a multi-racial student population and every effort is made to reflect this diversity within the services we provide.
We provide a full range of vegetarian options throughout the day. All of the cheese used on sandwiches, pizza and for other cooking is free of rennet. Vegetarian options are available at almost all our counters.
We operate on a trading account basis and do not benefit from any subsidies. Our pricing structure reflects this criteria. We do however aim to provide good value for money at keenest prices. Price comparisons with other Universities and similar High Street outlets are regularly carried out to ensure that we remain competitive. We are a non profit making organisation.
We work hard at ensuring that we provide both a high standard of service at all times and a clean and safe environment. We also provide all our staff with regular training on customer care, in performing their duties, as well as food safety regulations. The Catering Services Department undertakes over 20,000 transactions per week serving anything from a cup of coffee to a full 3 course meal.
If you wish to let us know what you think about our services at anytime, please raise your verbal comments with any member of our team. Where possible we will attempt to rectify any problems immediately. Where we may need to carry out further investigation or talk to our suppliers, we will take your name and number and will contact you as soon as we have resolved the situation.
Alternatively all written comments can be made using a Comment, complaint and concerns form, these are available in the Main Catering outlets on each Campus and responses to comments will be given where necessary.
