Good Chemistry teachers are in short supply. This new course is aimed at practising teachers who are already qualified to teach in schools and colleges, but who currently are not qualified to teach Chemistry. These teachers may already be teaching Chemistry or may wish to teach Chemistry in the future; equally the course could be of benefit to qualified teachers returning to teaching.
Our School has a long and successful history of providing excellent quality subject knowledge enhancement courses in Chemistry for pre-service teachers, staffed by qualified and experienced teachers in state-of-the-art laboratories. UEL is one of a small number of providers who have been selected to run the Chemistry Subject Knowledge CPD course for in-service teachers who do not have a formal qualification in Chemistry, but who would like to upgrade their subject
knowledge.
This is an innovative and enjoyable training course that explores Chemistry in a range of contexts across key stage 3 and 4, with the occasional dip into A-level, as required.
You will gain a deeper understanding of Chemistry concepts and constructs through study and hands-on practical workshops. There is a strong focus on helping participants to experience “how to teach” a particular topic or concept.
Eligibility
This training is available to all in-service teachers who wish to improve their Chemistry subject knowledge. It is also relevant to qualified teachers returning to the profession after a career break.
There are no teaching costs for this course, as it is government funded. A non-credit bearing short course certificate will be issued on completion.
