How to apply
- Applications for teacher training (PGCE) programmes starting in September 2013 should be made via the Graduate Teacher Training Registry (GTTR), from the week beginning 15th October 2012.
- We will prioritise for interview those applicants who have completed their Department for Education (DfE) Initial Teacher Training (ITT) professional skills tests. Find out more about the professional skills tests and how to book an appointment for the tests
Criminal records and health checks
Due to the nature of teacher training programmes, further checks including a Disclosure and Barring Service Check (formerly CRB) and an Occupational Health Clearance are required.
GCSE Entry Requirements
- Secondary applicants must hold GCSE grade C or above (or equivalent qualifications) in English and mathematics.
- Primary applicants must hold GCSE grade C or above (or equivalent qualifications) in English, mathematics and science.
If you do not currently meet any of these GCSE entry requirements please make arrangements to take the qualification. Alternatively, we accept equivalency tests passed with A Star Teachers
Please note that we do not accept IELTS assessment for Initial Teacher Training.
Applicants with international qualifications
We accept a wide range of qualifications from across the world. If you hold a degree or qualifications from a non-UK institution, you must verify their equivalence through the National Recognition Information Centre for the UK (NARIC).Tel: 0870 990 4088.
