Richard is an experienced early years practitioner who has teaching and managerial experience within a variety of early years settings in New Zealand, Australia and the UK, he has also worked as a reviewer for the National Childcare Accreditation Council in Australia. Richard's first degree was in Psychology. He then qualified with a Bachelors of Education and Diploma of Teaching (NZ), he has a MEd in Early Childhood Research and is currently studying towards his PhD.
Teaching and Learning
Richard is interested in how adult perceptions about children and childhood affect children’s experiences; he is also interested in looking for strategies to enhance the inclusion of young children’s voices within the discourse on early years education and care. His postgraduate research has focused on gender issues within the early childhood workforce.
