Brief biography

Karen is a lecturer in Early Childhood Studies. Karen's first degree is in Early Childhood Studies which she completed at the University of East London. Karen has worked with children, parents and professionals in a variety of early years settings including a women's refuge, child development centre and local primary schools. Karen completed her Post Graduate Certificate in Learning and Teaching in Higher Education (PGTLHE) and is a Fellow of The Higher Education Academy.

Areas of Interest/Summary of Expertise

Karen's main interests are listening to young children's talk, thinking and meaning-making and how these may be expressed in many 'languages' or modes. She is interested in how peers and adults can support and develop inclusive learning in early childhood in diverse social, cultural, political and economic contexts.
