Brief biography

Jane is a Senior Lecturer within the Early Childhood Studies team. Her main interests include historical and sociological perspectives of childhood, children's rights and research with children. She has worked with children in a variety of settings: playscheme, playgroup, infant and junior schools. Her first degree is in Early Childhood Studies and Social Sciences.

Her postgraduate research is a study of the  notion of 'childhood in crisis', focusing on childhood 0-12 years. She has previously worked as an Associate Lecturer (Early Childhood Studies) at Canterbury Christ Church University.

Areas of Interest/Summary of Expertise

Research interests include the condition of contemporary childhood and the construction of children by the news media. Jane is also interested in developing ethics in research with children.
