Brief biography

I am a Primary trained teacher with a special interest in early reading and Dyslexia and a licensed Reading Recovery Teacher and Associate Member of the British Dyslexia Association. For a number of years I have also trained and assessed Teaching Assistants who often have a particular responsibility for supporting children with Special Educational Needs. These experiences have led me to become more interested in local, national and international policy with regards to SEN and inclusion and I have more recently spent some time working for a local authority in an advisory role to ensure their statutory obligations as well as their aspirations for inclusion were implemented in their primary and secondary schools.

I have gained all my academic and professional qualifications as a mature learner in a second language.

  • BA (Humanities with Religious Studies): The Open University
  • MA (Education): The Open University
  • PGCE (Primary) with QTS: Greenwich University
  • Advanced Dimploma in Equlity and Diversity: The Open University

I am currently working towards a Professional Doctorate in Education
