Activities and responsibilities

After graduating with a first class honours degree, I began teaching in and around London.  I subsequently moved to Essex and continued my professional studies whilst working: SEN and then my National Professional Qualification for Headship (NPQH).  I have been a maths leader, SENCo, Inclusion Coordinator, Deputy Headteacher and Headteacher.  I was appointed at UEL in September 2010 as Senior Lecturer, I have since been appointed as Principal Lecturer, Director of Partnerships.

As maths leader in school I was responsible for the CPD of other staff, ensuring pupils made expected or accelerated progress, assessing interventions and evaluating our provision.  This knowledge has supported how I influence and provide support and guidance for trainees on the PGCE programme.  I am able to use examples of best practice currently used in schools alongside research in action.  My other leadership roles have supported me in my current role of Director of Partnership.  As SENCo and Inclusion leader I was responsible for sharing best practice and for providing CPD opportunities within our cluster.  As Deputy and Head I worked within a consortium to ensure the needs of our local community were being met, share best practice and CPD opportunities across our partnership schools.  I now use this knowledge of how schools work together to build effective partnerships between HE and school to ensure high quality outcomes for trainees and pupils.
