Brief biography

I completed my BA in Philosophy and Theology at Heythrop College, University of London and then an MA in Philosophy of Religion at King’s College, London. After my PGCE, I taught in the London Borough of Brent for five years, where I was a Head of RE and Classics. During this time I completed a Farmington Institute Award researching special needs and philosophy, and gained a Jerusalem Trust bursary for new writers of Religious Education material.

Taking a break from London life, I taught at both primary and secondary levels for three years in Wellington, New Zealand as a Director of Thinking and Learning, which included  responsibility for Gifted and Talented education. I also was an educational consultant, working with schools on thinking skills, the Philosophy for Children programme and enquiry-based learning.

I joined UEL in 2006 and became the programme leader of the Religious Education (Secondary) programme.
