Brief biography

I am a Senior Lecturer in Secondary Physical Education responsible for all aspects of the planning, delivery and evaluation of the PGCE and School Direct programmes. My work involves liaising with partnership schools and observing our trainee teachers.

I gained a joint BSc (Hons) from Trinity & All Saints, College of University of Leeds, in Physical Education & Recreation with Business Management & Administration in 1992.  I then attended the Chelsea School, University of Brighton for my PGCE in 1992/93.

I taught in Co. Durham for just over two years before volunteering with VSO in the Eastern Caribbean for over three years, where I had responsibility for training and managing eleven staff.  I then set up a community based sport development agency in Oracabessa, Jamaica. I was responsible for delivering teacher education in the local schools and national colleges amongst many other projects.

I returned to the UK in 2002 and took up post as Head of Department of a secondary school in Islington, where we were involved in many national innovative projects. I became an Advisory PE Teacher for the Borough in 2004.  From 2005 until 2011 I worked within a School Sport Partnership taking on many roles and responsibilities, which included teacher training.  From 2011 I returned to being a Head of Department.  I joined UEL in January 2013.
