Barbara completed a BA in History at Royal Holloway College London in 1977 and a Primary PGCE at Goldsmiths College the following year. Since then, Barbara has worked in primary schools in the London Borough of Waltham Forest where she lives, taking the lead in a variety of curriculcum and cross-curricular areas including RE, History, Geography, PSHE, Music, Resources and Professional Development. She was on the teacher committee that helped produce the first 1995 Waltham Forest Agreed Syllabus for Religious Education. More recently, Barbara gained the NPQH through the Institute of Education's London Leadership Centre, and had a period as a Headteacher of a junior school. She took up a post as Partnership Tutor and Senior Lecturer at UEL in April 2005.
Barbara is particularly interested in Religious Education and is a member of the Primary PGCE's partnership team, working with schools in East London to support Initial Teacher Training. Barbara lectures on the Primary PGCE programme, specialising in RE.
