We offer several introductory courses which enable you to gain classroom experience, boost your knowledge in certain subjects, or develop your general communication skills.
Subject Knowledge Enhancement Courses for Teacher Training
Subject Knowledge Enhancement Courses are designed to develop subject knowledge before your teacher training to ensure you have the adequate subject knowledge before you embark on the course.
UEL also offer Subject Knowledge Booster Courses which are short (up to 4 week) courses, designed to develop subject knowledge in the area in which you will be teaching and prepare you for your Secondary Initial Teacher Training programme. The courses could help you bridge any gaps in your subject knowledge and prepare you for your training on either the GTP or the PGCE. Courses are available in Chemistry, Food and Textiles (Design & Technology), French, ICT, Physics, Mathmatics and Physical Education.
Subject Knowledge for Practising Teachers
Assessment Only (AO) route to Qualified Teacher Status
This is a self-funded option for very experienced graduate teachers who are likely to have spent more than two years in a teaching role. This experience can be gained in an employed or voluntary capacity as long as you are meeting the standards as a teacher, or as someone supporting a teacher.
New Beginnings is our intensive access course, designed to give students the opportunity for a ‘second chance’ to study at university.
Early Years Professional Status is part of a government initiative to have trained Early Years Professionals at graduate level in every children’s centre and in every daycare setting by 2015. It is not a qualification, but a status endorsed by the government.
We are pleased to announce our new one-day course aimed at informal educators, designed for everyone who works with school groups; giving tours, running workshops and delivering creative sessions with pupils.
