Applying to study at UEL is easy. We consider applications from students with a wide range of backgrounds, qualifications and experience, and our online application system will enable you to submit your application from anywhere with internet access.
For applications made directly to UEL there is no formal closing date, but it is advisable to apply as early as possible in the year leading up to the start of your studies, as many programmes fill up quickly.
The easiest and most secure way to apply is online at uel.ac.uk/apply. Our online application system enables you to complete your application via any internet-connected computer. You can save your application form and return to complete it at any time. When you submit your application we will send you an email to confirm that it has been received.
Section One Professional Postgraduate Study 2011/2012 You will be required to provide us with contact details of two referees to complete your application. Your referees will be able to upload their references for you directly, enabling us to process your application as quickly as possible.

If you are considering applying for a research degree, contact the Graduate School to discuss your research proposal before submitting an application. If the relevant school at UEL has the required expertise and facilities, you will be invited to complete an application form. In most cases, a submission of the application form will be followed by a formal interview.

All applications for PGCE programmes must be made via the Graduate Teacher Training Registry (GTTR) website: www.gttr.ac.uk
Applications for teacher training (PGCE) programmes starting in September 2013 should be made via the Graduate Teacher Training Registry (GTTR) www.gttr.ac.uk, from the week beginning 15th October 2012.
When you visit the GTTR website you will need to register and apply. GTTR will then process your application and send you a paper Welcome letter by post with a booklet called Your GTTR Welcome Guide, which explains the remainder of the applications process. GTTR will send us your application to us and we will consider your application. You will be able to track the progress of your application through your account with GTTR.
GCSE Entry Requirements
If you do not currently meet any of these GCSE entry requirements please make arrangements to take the qualification.
Please note that we do not accept IELTS assessment for Initial Teacher Training.
We will prioritise for interview those applicants who have completed their Department for Education (DfE) Initial Teacher Training (ITT) professional skills tests. Information about the professional skills tests and how to book an appointment for the tests can be found here.
Due to the nature of teacher training programmes, further checks including a Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) Enhanced Disclosure and an Occupational Health Clearance are required.

We accept a wide range of qualifications from across the world. You should not convert your qualifications to the UK equivalent but please ensure you include as much detail about your studies as possible on your application, specifically scores/marks/grades for all qualifications that you have achieved.
For postgraduate programmes our normal requirement is IELTS 6.0 or 6.5 (occasionally 7.0) or equivalent. English language requirements for each programme are listed on our website.
We accept IELTS as well as many other equivalent-level qualifications.
