Stephanie studied for her first degree by distance, with the Open University where she gained a first class honours. She continued with the Open University and achieved a Masters in the Environment, Policy and Society. She was first employed by UEL in 1999. Since then she has attained a PG Certificate in Learning and Teaching in Higher Education and a Certificate of Applied Learning Technologies.
Stephanie has been awarded a UEL Teaching Fellowship for excellence in Learning, Teaching and Assessment based on her work in developing electronic learning materials. She is also a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. She has recently stepped down from a role of Leader in Teaching and Learning, but retains a keen interest in the activity. Her key research interests are in the student experience as well as her specialist subject areas which are environmental management and Corporate Social Responsibility. Stephanie's core teaching area is in Business operations and the development of undergraduate study skills.
Stephanie has participated on a wide range of consultative committees within the university involving activities including the instigation of UEL Plus and the university's provision for disabled students.
Stephanie is conducting research contributing to a project involving 28 partner organisations that is funded by the EU and is seeking to develop strategies and tools that make our cities and the businesses within them more sustainable.
She is also pursuing her PhD, which is examining wealth distribution and sustainability and has recently completed research that explored the ethical duty of universities to teach soft skills to students. Her paper has been accepted for publication by the Journal of Business Ethics.
She has also developed a tool that will eventually be made available to all urban local authorities within the EU that will assist them develop sustainable practices.
