Brief biography

Dr John Chandler obtained a BA in Sociology at the University of Nottingham and an MPhil in Social Policy and Administration at the University of Kent before heading to Sweden, where he was awarded a PhD in the Sociology of Work from Luleå University of Technology. He worked within the public sector in administration, and also had a brief spell working in a factory, before joining the teaching staff at UEL in the late 1970s. Dr Chandler has taken on a variety of course and programme management roles at UEL alongside teaching and research.

Activities and responsibilities

John is Reader at the Business School and Research Degrees Leader for the School. He teaches on our undergraduate and postgraduate programmes and also supervises a number of Postgraduate Research students.
