Brief biography

Dr Bardle completed his DPhil at Oxford University in 2008. During his studies he founded and later saw through the trade sale of an online business. Outside of his work at UEL, he is involved in a number of start-ups, including a consultancy in East London and an online fitness service. His family is from Hackney and he thinks it is an exciting time to be in East London, with the Olympics and the widespread redevelopment of the area.

Activities and responsibilities

Stephen teaches and mentors on the Discovering Entrepreneurship module. He also mentors final year dissertation projects.

Areas of Interest/Summary of Expertise

Stephen has been involved in entrepreneurship for the past six years. He does not have any one area of focus – although he has mainly been involved in internet companies, he is increasingly interested in CleanTech, particularly for powering Data Centres.

Stephen is currently researching the area of Faith and Entrepreneurship, particularly in East London.

Other scholarly activities

Stephen consults for the Innovation for Growth Scheme, which links local businesses with academics at the University. He has so far produced reports on generating new sales for an electronics manufacturer in Essex, and on using social media as a marketing vehicle for an online retail start-up in North London.
