University of East LondonPrior to joining the RDBS Elaine has worked for a variety of public sector organisations in operational and strategic HR roles. During her last role for the Metropolitan Police Service Elaine worked full time whilst gaining an MSc in Human Resource Management and MCIPD status from Kings College London. Elaine predominantly worked in HR internal consultancy roles advising on the people aspects of major change programmes, including acting as the Engagement and Communication Manager for a large scale Transforming HR Programme.
Elaine is also the Equality and Diveristy lead for the RDBS. This role involves developing the annual Equality and Diveristy Action plan and through membership of the SMT ensures that Equality and Diversity issues are fully integrated into all research, teaching, programme and administrative activities. Elaine also promotes this ehtos through the desgin and delivery of regular training and development activities for RDBS and works with other Equality and Diversity leads from across UEL to promote key Diversity initatives.
Elaine is also responsible for redesigning and the validation of a new MA in HRM that will be launched in September 2010, in accordance with the new CIPD professional standards.
Elaine's key research interest is the impact of strategic HR approaches on individual and organisational performance. Elaine is undertaking a DBA from September 2010 that will explore the impact of Strategic HRM on the career progression of female and male HR professionals and the impact this has on the wider Equality and Diversity agenda within organizations.
As part of studying for a MA in Education Elaine is also exploring the impact of Equality and Diversity initiatives on student attainment of academic qualifications.
