On November 24th 2011, tourism lecturers Raoul Bianchi and Ray Powell accompanied a group of International Tourism Students on a field trip to Dover and Margate as part of the level 3 module, International Tourism Development and Planning. During the trip students were given a talk on Dover's tourism strategy by Jon Iveson, the curator of the Dover Museum and Tourism Officer for Dover District Council, as well as on the regeneration of England's oldest seaside resort town, Margate, by Sam Thomas, the Urban Regeneration Officer for Thanet District Council. Students also had an opportunity to walk around in order to undertake an evaluation of the urban regeneration efforts and tourist potential of both towns, as well as sample the quality of the local fish and chips!
