A poll of undergraduate students entering our School in 2009 showed that for nearly one in three, themainreason in studying with us was to learn all that was needed to start their own business. The Royal Docks Business School is a good place for budding entrepreneurs. Many of our academic staff are expert in the needs of start-ups and small and medium enterprises, and they frequently provide consultancy services to businesses. Our suite of programmes provides the basis for sound business practice.
But it is important for student entrepreneurs to also take advantage of the many other opportunities to learn and practice business skills. And there are plenty of such opportunities. Look out the Student Entrepreneurship Society; take part in the Xing Business Strategy Game, or go into the University’s very own “dragon’s den” by submitting your business ideas to the E-factor competition. If you need advice for setting up your business, access the support we can receive through the Petchey Centre for Entrepreneurship, located in Knowledge Dock.
