The Centre for Diversity and Business (CDB) is an affiliate of the Royal Docks Business School (RDBS) at the University of East London (UEL). The centre is an interdisciplinary professional and academic service that aims to provide a forum for research focusing on equality and diversity, inclusion and leadership in business.
CDB will establish itself as a key player in the development of critically and dialogically oriented research that contributes to a broadening and deepening of the field. This will be achieved by extending the boundaries of this area of study to embrace theoretically informed approaches from other disciplines or approaches. In this, CDB will seek to apply these theoretically informed approaches comparatively, often integrated with rigorous empirical work, in international contexts - most notably across Europe and beyond to Asia and Africa. In so doing, CDB will increase collaboration with other institutions, communities, organisations and bodies, both nationally and internationally.
Professional service activities are directed at the academic and/or business communities in international and local organisations. Academic activities will include serving as a reviewer, discussant, an editorial review board and editing conference proceedings. The CDB aim is to provide service to businesses and to forge a strong links between the community and the university. The centre offers a consultancy service; provide executive education and training to both local and international organisations. CDB also welcome applications from prospective PhD students, as we are able to offer supervision in the following areas: Leadership, HRM, Organisational Development, Change Management, Equality and Diversity, Race, Ethnicity, Gender and Sexuality in business.

''There’s real diversity both
in the University and within my School. I find this enables me to learn from other
students, as well as from the teaching team. In particular, the variety of backgrounds
on my programme makes this feel truly representative of the UK – I think that’s very
useful for my future career.''
