October is Black History Month and we have many free events planned, so please come along to as many as you can. Some key ones to look out for are:

‘Bicultural Competence - challenges and achievements’
For the launch of UEL’s Black History Month you are invited to join our guests Dr Gloria Gordon and Ms Joy White and UEL staff, in a discussion surrounding Bicultural competence.
Dr Gloria Gordon is the Founder of the Centre for British African Caribbean Studies, and author of ‘Towards Bicultural Competence, Beyond Black And White’. Ms Joy White is the Co-Founder of One Spare Chair, Author of ‘Don’t Tear the Wall Paper’ and a UEL Alumni.

The Exhibition from the Eastside Community Heritage Archive commemorates 200 years since the slave trade was outlawed in the British Empire.
