The School of Architecture and the Visual Arts brings together the academic and research disciplines of Architecture, Fashion/Textiles, Fine Art, Design, Digital Arts and Visual Theories. Across the School of Architecture and the Visual Arts, there are many internationally acknowledged specialists who contribute towards the teaching programmes and are involved in its postgraduate courses and supervision. Given that UEL is one of the most highly rated new universities, it is not surprising that research in art, architecture and the visual arts as well as the history of art, design and film is thriving and valued. In the last Research Assessment Exercise, we received a 4 classification and we aspire to build and to develop our research as a crucial part of our future and as a sign of our commitment and dynamism to innovative thinking and practice. With this in mind, the School has a number of research professors of world-class reputation including Fae Brauer, Grenville Davy, Jane Harris, David Montgomery, Michael O’Pray, Grayson Perry, John Smith, Rodrigo Perez de Arce and Richard Wilson. Equally a large part of the staff team are actively involved in research and in promoting research as central to and underpinning our teaching excellence.
