FINE ART POWERPOINT - DOWNLOAD HERE
Fine Art programmes at the University of East London are based in the new AVA building on the Docklands campus which was officially opened by Turner Prize winner Grayson Perry, who is a visiting professor at the School. The building offers purpose-built studios and workshops, and incorporates a dedicated gallery installation space, which stages exhibitions of work not only by UEL students, but also by leading artists and designers.
The Fine Art Subject Areas is staffed by practicing artists and critics, and the visiting artist programme draws upon artists and curators of international reputation based in London. In addition there is input from our Visiting Research Professor, Richard Wilson, who shares his practice with students and mentors students during installation and exhibition opportunities.
Exhibition is a vital part of Fine Art practice, and is a key aspect of the curriculum for BA, MA, and Doctoral students. Students are encouraged to take advantage of regular exhibition opportunities in the AVA gallery and at Trinity Buoy Wharf, as well as organising their own shows in a range of external venues. Many of these shows are the focus of seminars led by invited artists and regular staff. During 2005-6 BA students also collaborated in exhibitions with Fine Art students from Wimbledon College of Art, Kingston University, and Byam Shaw School of Art.
