Please find below a list of known issues with using Turnitin and Turnitin GradeMark within UEL. If you are experiencing an issue not noted below, please contact elearning@uel.ac.uk and provide details of your current issue.
1. Turnitin GradeMark and Internet Explorer
There is a known issue with using Turnitin through the Internet Explorer browser. In this issue, the user attempts to provide annotations or scroll through the students work and the page freezes/becomes unresponsive for a number of minutes.
Whilst Turnitin rectifies this problem, all users are requested to use the browser Mozilla Firefox. No issues with scrolling or annotating the student script have been noted with users of Mozilla Firefox.

2. Premature release of Grades via My Grades channel on My UEL Plus page
If a Module Leader does not enable anonymous marking for your Turnitin link, there is a known issue with grades being made prematurely available from within the My Grades channel on My UEL Plus.
In order to overcome this, column settings in the UEL Plus Grade Book will need to be adjusted as follows:
3. Retrospectively changing the Post Date in Turnitin GradeMark and the Grades disappearing
If a user retrospectively changes the Post Date (the date by which the feedback is returned to students) within Turnitin GradeMark there is a known issue with the inputted grade disappearing from the Turnitin Assignment Inbox. This issue only occurs when the Turnitin link is set for anonymous submissions. Turnitin are aware of this issue and are working on a resolution.
To fix the problem and view the grades provided, you will need to amend the Post Date back to the original date. This will re-display the grades within the Turnitin inbox. If you need the work to be returned to the students before the original post date, please contact elearning@uel.ac.uk with details of the issue and request they contact Turnitin for a resolution on your behalf.
4. Invalid file type in Turnitin
Submitting a paper with Firefox may cause invalid file problem.
You might see the following error when submitting file to Turnitin using Mozilla Firefox.
To solve this problem remove or disable any Firefox addons. If error presist please use other web browser like Internet Explorer or Google Chrome.
