Teaching & Learning Enhancement

Our objectives and future ambitions are all detailed in the Academic Practice and Learning Enhancement Strategy 2009-2012 - Inspiring Excellence and Achievement

  • APLE supports staff engagement with award schemes that celebrate excellence in learning and teaching, such as the UEL Teaching Fellowship Scheme and the HEA National Teaching Fellowship Scheme
  • APLE organise and manage learning and teaching events for staff including the Annual Learning, Teaching & Assessment Conference, events for Programme Leaders and Link Tutors and the Lunchtime Discussion Forum Series
  • We can also arrange bespoke events to support experienced staff, Schools and Services in refining and developing their teaching and assessment practice
  • We offer accredited continuing professional development opportunities for staff with the sector leading UEL Professional Standards Framework
  • We offer the Lecturers Development Programme for new lecturers to gain professional recognition for their teaching
  • We offer a full advisory service for funding of pedagogic research with our Learning Enhancement Opportunities (LEO) grants
  • APLE works with School and Service Leaders in Learning and Teaching to support and champion innovation across UEL
  • We are the main liaison point for the Higher Education Academy ("The Academy") for the University of East London
  • APLE are committed to offering a professional, high quality service and providing the appropriate level of support to all staff and students, our Customer Service Standards outline how we will achieve this.

E-Learning/Learning Systems

The E-Learning and Learning Systems teams support the university in the use of technology to enhance learning and teaching.

The E-learning team advise and assist our academic colleagues regarding learning design and the use of technology in their teaching practice.

The Learning Systems Team maintain and support our institutional VLE, as well as demonstrating or assisting with a number of uses of technology, such as the creation, refinement and deployment of multimedia learning resources.
