Telephone Campaigns Reach 3,000 Alumni and Raise More Than £90,000
Over the last three months UEL students working for the Development & Alumni Office have been contacting alumni as part of two telethon appeals. More than 3,000 alumni have been contacted and more than £90,000 has been raised in donations and pledges in support of our development projects: Student hardship grants; a new library at our Stratford campus; a new sports and leisure complex at our Docklands campus; and start-up reserach grants for new academic research staff. The Development & Alumni Office wishes to thank all of those who participated in our campaigns, talked to our student callers and supported our Annual Fund. Prospective employers and careers advisers will also be present, and guests will be able to meet and network with alumni, staff and students. |
| Thursday 17 June | 6pm - 9pm | Stratford campus | Cass School of Education and Communities Alumni Barbeque The Dean of UEL's Cass School of Education and Communities, Ann Slater, will host a barbeque for all graduates of the School. |

NEW - 10% postgraduate fee discount for UEL alumni
From September 2010 UEL will be introducing a discount for all UEL alumni who enrol on a full time postgraduate (masters, research or doctorate) programme within three years of successful completion of their undergraduate degree or PGCE. The 10% discount will be deducted from your tuition fees after any Merit scholarships and before any early payment discount is applied. It can also be used in conjunction with other scholarships and funding. You don’t need to do anything to apply - just make it clear on your application form that you have previously studied at UEL and include your student ID number. We’ll do the rest!

UEL-KnowledgeEast Internship Project
This partnership between UEL and KnowledgeEast is offering 500
paid job placements to graduates of 2008 onwards. Placements last for a minimum of four weeks and are predominantly with small and medium sized enterprises. The deadline for applications is 31 August 2010, and the scheme also offers £1,000 to employers who can offer a such a placement.

‘Make it Happen’ – Entrepreneurial Programme for Students and Graduates
The FlyingStart Make it Happen programme is for students and graduates interested in starting their own businesses. The programme is being run by the National Council for Graduate Entrepreneurship (NCGE) and UEL's Knowledge Dock enterprise development service, and features interactive workshops, guest speakers, networking opportunities and business support from expert professionals, as well as an opportunity to apply for start-up grants and begin a 12 month business mentoring programme. The Make it Happen Day will take place on Monday 15 March, so act now to reserve your place.
