Accreditation of Experiential Learning

Mapping your Learning Outcomes

Now that you have outlined your case for AEL in your position statement, you need to present your evidence.

Remember, you have to show evidence that learning that has taken place, not just evidence of the experience itself. Ask your AEL coordinator if you are unsure about this.

Examples of evidence you can use include references, appraisal reviews, testimonials, current or previous job descriptions, CVs, documents that you have produced (such as reports, action plans, lesson plans, papers and presentations), certificates and other documentation from training courses.

You can organise your separate items of evidence using this index form.

You can now use the Module Claim Form to map your pieces of evidence to the learning outcomes for the module(s) you want to claim for. Please use a separate form for each module. Once you have completed the form you will need to ask your Programme Leader to approve the credit and sign the form.

The ‘learning outcomes’ are a list of specific things that a learner is expected to know, understand or be able to do when they have completed a module. You will need to contact your AEL coordinator or Programme Leader to find out the exact learning outcomes for the module(s) you want to apply for.

NB: you must demonstrate that you have met each and every learning outcome for the module – you cannot claim credit for part of a module.
