Brief biography

Kathy Walker is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Humanities and Social Sciencesand is Course Tutor for the BSc Hons Media and Communication Technologies degree. Her long-term research interests focus on the development of policy for new media technologies and she is particularly interested in the changing nature of the digital broadcasting environment and its impact on public service broadcasting. These issues are most recently explored in her chapter “Public service broadcasting and new distribution technologies: issues of equality, access and choice in the transactional television environment”, ” in Technology and In/equality: Questioning the Information Age, 2000, (eds.) S.Wyatt et al, London: Routledge.
