UEL academic announces first solo London show and possibly the end of the world.

Wednesday 7 March 2012

Max Hattler Shift

Animator and visiting lecturer in Animation and Moving Image at the University of East London, Max Hattler, presents his first solo show in London next month.

From Friday 9 March, Max will be transforming the basement space of the Tenderpixel gallery in central London into his cinematic interpretation of an apocalyptic shift, using the New Age idea of a ‘dimensional shift’ as inspiration.

The exhibition premieres the work completed by Max through his Animate Projects commission for Channel 4’s Random Acts and will also be shown on Channel 4.

Max said: “I'm very excited about my show at Tenderpixel. It ticks two boxes on my bucket list: London solo show and film commission from Animate Projects for Channel 4.”

"Shift is completely abstract, but its inspiration lies in the idea of a shift of consciousness and spiritual awakening that, according to New Age mythology and internet folklore, is supposed to happen in 2012 – the end of the world as we know it…”

The exhibition will run until 28 April, Wednesdays through to Saturdays, 2-6pm, with a private viewing from 6-8pm on Friday 9 March.

Max is also currently studying for his Professional Doctorate in Fine Art (DFA) at the University of East London.
