Photography students invited to tea with legendary photographer David Hurn

David Hurn, a photographer who has worked with Jane Fonda and Sean Connery during his golden era as James Bond among many others, invited a group of UEL photography students to talk about the profession earlier this month at his home in Wales.
David Hurn has a long history of working with students, setting up the School of Documentary Photography in 1973 in Newport, Wales. He has received many awards, including the Imperial War Museum Arts Award and the Welsh Arts Council Award. His work has been displayed in collections all over the world.
Earlier this month, students were given the opportunity to visit Hurn at his home in Wales, where they were given the chance to talk about photography, Hurn’s life and his association with some of the 20th century’s most celebrated photographers, such as Henri Cartier-Bresson, Eve Arnold, Dom McCullum and Martin Parr.
Riccardo Raspa, a level two photography student, enthused: "A day with David is like a year spent studying photography from books."
David Hurn himself said it was ‘a pleasure to meet and talk to such aspiring new talents’.
