- Dr Shihan De Silva Jaysuriya – ‘Africans in South Asia: A Forgotten People’
Historic and contemporary role and contribution of Africans in the military, culture and music of the Indian
subcontinent. Shihan De Silva Jaysuriya is the author of ‘African Identity in Asia :Cultural Effects of Forced
Migration’, Senior Fellow at the Institute of Commonwealth Studies (University of London), and Rapporteur of
UNESCO Slave Route Project (Paris).
- Gibril Faal – ‘Historical & Developmental Perspectives on the African Diaspora’
Historical basis of the different African diasporas and their role in contemporary socio-economic
development of the African continent. Gibril Faal is the author of paper on ‘Definition and Classification of the
African Diaspora, Chairman of African Foundation for Development (AFFORD), and Board Member of the
EC-UN Joint Migration & Development Initiative (Brussels).
