Brief biography

Mihaela Anca Ciupala obtained her degree in Civil Engineering from the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Architecture, Iasi, Romania in 1991. She was awarded her Ph.D. in Earthquake Engineering in 1999.

In 1992 she was appointed Assistant Lecturer in the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Architecture, Iasi and was promoted to Lecturer in 1998. Between 2001-2003 she was awarded an EU Marie Curie Research Fellowship at the University of Sheffield. Since 2004 she has been a Senior Lecturer at the University of East London.

Her research is in the fields of Structural Dynamics and Earthquake Engineering, Base Isolation, FRP reinforcement, Strengthening. She was involved in research grants, awards and industrial contracts in the above mentioned fields. She has over 30 papers and reports, more than 25 of which are in refereed journals and conferences. She participated in numerous European research and International projects and networks such as fib-Task Group 9.3, TMR Network “ConFibreCrete”, EU Marie Curie, EU ECOLEADER and EU Marie Curie Research Training Network "EN-CORE".
