Dr Hossein Saidpour is currently employed as a Reader in Composite Materials and a Principal Lecturer in the Field of Civil Engineering and Surveying at UEL. He is one of the five Research Champions in the School of Architecture, Computing and Engineering. He leads a team of academics and researchers in the area of design and materials engineering.

 Dr Hossein Saidpour has supervised many PhD candidates to successful completion and  has acted as external examiner for undergraduate, postgraduate and doctorate degrees at numerous HE Institutions and Universities in the UK and overseas including Engineering Council, King's College London, University of Portsmouth, Anglia Ruskin University and Birmingham City University.

 Dr Hossein Saidpour has been appointed by the European Commission, as the lead European Expert Assessor, to evaluate research applications for funding. He has also had responsibilities to report on policy changes for European funding. He has published widely, his work is cited and has been awarded gold medal for his collaborative research activities. He has attracted considerable income through consultancy, sponsored research and overseas contracts for students training. He has been successful in attracting sponsorship from numerous funding bodies, including EPSRC, KTP, DTI, LDA and European Commission.
