Our research uses “industry as its laboratory” and is focussed on applied Software Engineering in an industrial context, where distributed systems engineering and secure systems engineering are essential concerns. We contribute to the fundamentals of Software Engineering through our research on architectures, evolution, requirements and reuse.
This group brings together international researchers in a number of areas of Software Engineering research:
The DSE group has published more than 170 papers in International Journals, Books, and Conference Proceedings; the updated full list of papers is available.
Members of the group have recently submitted applications for funding to national (such as EPSRC, TSB) bodies as well as European bodies (EU FP7, ERC) and they are participating in successfull projects including the FP7 project PANDORA, the Powerchex Ltd. Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP), and the DefTrust EPSRC/British Telecom (BT) funded project.
The group is building a research portfolio that will strengthen its visibility internationally and it will allow the team to extend their external collaborators base and submit applications for funding at future EU, EPSRC, TSB calls. We are looking to establish collaborations with other Software Engineering groups, software user organisations, such as the NHS, and industrial partners.
